I received this Over-21 New York Version 3 (O21 nNY V3) ID from OldIronsidesFakes (OIS) to review. I have never experienced any issues with OIS Customer Service. When I did contact OIS, the vendor always responded within 24 hours. I believe OIS is based in China; keep in mind, China is 12 hours ahead of the US, making 24 hours more than a reasonable time. But, there are still some domestically-based vendors that will reply in less than 24 hours. Because OIS is based in China, there is a slight language-barrier. If you are unsure about something, I recommend that you contact OIS.
I received this nNY V3 ID from OIS for free, in return for the review. However, OIS offers some of the best prices for high-quality IDs. Group Orders from OIS qualify for a considerable discount. *I recommend purchasing an ID with a group of people to qualify for a group discount; the price of an individual ID can range anywhere from $40-$84 with a group discount; without a group discount, the price of an individual ID can range anywhere from $80-$120.
The order was confirmed 1 day after initially placing the order for the nNY V3 ID. The order arrived 9 days after initially placing the order. Overall, shipping took around less than 1 week. I believe OIS is based in China; keep in mind, international packages have to go through customs, making less than 1 week for shipping more than a reasonable time (in fact, it’s an extremely fast time). It takes most domestically-based vendors 1-2 weeks to ship packages.
The New York ID features a thin raised-lettering signature underneath the identification photo, slightly overlapping the identification photo itself. The signature on the OIS ID matches the New York ID perfectly; the signature on the OIS ID looks identical to the signature I submitted. The raised-lettering is correct, the placement is correct, and the line thickness is correct.
The information format on the OIS ID matches the information format on the New York ID. The expiration date on the OIS ID matches the expiration date of the New York ID. The color of the OIS ID matches the color of the New York ID. The microprint on the OIS ID matches the microprint on the New York ID. The material of the OIS ID matches the material of the New York ID. The variable wave pattern on the OIS ID matches the variable wave pattern on the New York ID.
The New York ID features a laser-engraved black-and-white identification photo with minimal face shadows; most New York State IDs have slight ear shadows. The background of the photo blends in seamlessly with the ID; there is no solid border separating the photo from the rest of the ID. The photo on the OIS ID matches the photo on the New York ID; although, the ear shadows should be more prominent/a little bit darker.
The New York ID does not incorporate any holograms/OVI as a security feature; rather, the New York ID incorporates a laser-engraved black-and-white ghost image as a security feature. The black-and-white “ghost image” inverts colors when a light passes through it. The ghost image on the OIS ID matches the ghost image on the New York ID. The black-and-white of the ghost image should invert; however, the black-and-white on the OIS ID do not invert as dramatically.
The New York ID has by far the most intricate UV pattern of any state ID, covering the whole ID in extremely intricate patterns. The UV on the OIS ID does not match the UV on the New York ID. The back of the ID should only feature the star-spangled banner pattern. There should be no pattern on the light-yellow textured section. The wavy-line pattern should also pass through the ghost image. The ID should feature the pink-colored words “New York” within the wavy-line pattern.
Unfortunately, I just today received this O21 nNY V3 ID from OIS, so I haven't been able to use it at all. However, many of my friends have OIS nNY V3 IDs and can vouch that they scan properly at supermarkets and gas stations. The barcode on the ID displays all the correct information when scanned on a PDF417 online scanner. I don’t plan on visiting any clubs/bars soon so I won’t be able to verify if it works well at clubs/bars.
Overall, the OIS O21 nNY V3 ID is a high-quality ID that will pass more than about 80% of the time. This ID is a completely out-of-state passable (OSP) ID. However, this ID is not a completely in-state passable (ISP) ID. This ID will, without a doubt, pass when compared to a BarBook; however, it won't pass if inspected by an experienced bouncer/bartender with an eye for New York State IDs. {* * *Final Score: 8.0/10* * *}
